Smart Packaging Solutions wins the Packaging & Label Award!

Smart Packaging Solutions won the professional jury prize at the Packaging & Label Awards. Repun and Stackpack were awarded the prize for the category ‘Most innovative packaging material/packaging’. The jury considered the entry the most comprehensive packaging innovation in the category.

The prize was awarded on Tuesday 22 September during the industry exhibition Empack Ghent. Repun, a cardboard punnet for fruit and vegetables, and Stackpack, a solidboard topseal tray, received 5 stars. The jury was especially struck by the combination of an all-new design, practical applicability and the potential for serious market impact. The jury considered most striking that the packaging comprises a minimum of 90% recycled paper fibres. And as such Repun and Stackpack are in line with the new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

The enormous scope of applications and the opportunities for utilizing the solution on a grander scale, played a significant role in the high score.

Smart Packaging Solutions produces increasingly more packaging from light weight solidboard. The lighter weight consumes less raw materials, although the packaging retains its robust characteristics.

Smart Packaging Solutions demonstrates with Repun and Stackpack how innovation, choice of materials and practical applicability can be combined in packaging that is in line with changing demands. The Packaging & Label Award is a fitting tribute and stimulus for continuing to explore ways to make lighter weight packaging.
