Our cutting-edge logistics solution involves producing moisture-proof cardboard inserts to hold the gerbera stems. For the new flower bucket, Smart Packaging Solutions worked with Royal FloraHolland to develop two different cardboard inserts: one for large-flowered and one for small-flowered gerberas. Both versions have their own unique hole pattern, ensuring that each flower remains securely in place. Furthermore, the Diamond inserts boast elegant, customisable printing. Every bucket comes with three inserts.

The Fc555 was developed for gerbera growers seeking to simplify and boost the sustainability of their packaging and logistics, among other things. In the past, gerberas were often transported in a shallow bucket, combined with a flange. Thanks to the new, taller flower bucket, these additional packaging materials are no longer needed. The cutting-edge design results in easier handling, fewer packaging materials, and a more streamlined logistics system for both growers and buyers.

The inserts are made of solid board, a material that’s ideal for applications in the floriculture sector. After harvesting, gerbera stems are gently slotted into the inserts, and the flowers remain in water while in transit. This means that the inserts often come into contact with moisture. Solid board retains its strength and shape even in these conditions, ensuring the flowers are optimally supported throughout the entire logistics process. This is vital for shipping within Europe, and shipments to destinations all over the globe.
